Grace Changed my Life

From: January 2009
A true testimony that I will never forget in my life

Before I share the testimony, I have to tell you some information about myself. I became a Christian 20 years ago, and I have been in ministry for about 17 years. All the teaching I received from church and teachers at that time was mixed with law and tradition. The only book we had was the Bible; no other reference books. So what I received, I taught others – all kinds of teaching around law and good works; no grace at all. We didn’t know how to be led by the Holy Spirit; how to rest in him. We didn’t even really know how to do the ministry. We tried our best to serve the Lord, preach the Gospel and help others.

The message of grace showed me God’s mercy and forgiveness.

We were so busy with our ministry, just “Do, Do.” Even we had no time with God and our family. Finally, we were burned out in our ministry and we didn’t have any good relationship with our spouse and children. Life became so hard and sad. My life was full of bitterness and unforgiveness.

One thing happened in my life. I will never forget it. It had to do with one of my good friends who I really trusted; he is also a brother in the Lord. Because I trusted him, I let him in charge of several groups. I never thought he wouldn’t take his responsibility, but he destroyed groups. And because of this I was so hurt by him. It was so hard to forgive him and from that time I cut off the relationship with him, and I didn’t accept him anymore. But my heart was still full of hate and bitterness.

Suddenly I got the revelation: under the law, even the best person is still condemned; under grace, even the worst person is still accepted by God.

Many years later, I had a chance to hear the teaching about grace. The message of grace showed me God’s mercy and forgiveness. The Bible says in Colossians 3:13: “Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Suddenly I got the revelation: under the law, even the best person is still condemned; under grace, even the worst person is still accepted by God. Because grace and truth came through Jesus, He brought grace to my life and changed me. From then on, I have been totally free from condemnation, bitterness and unforgiveness.

Many years later, because of His grace, I came to this brother who hurt me before, and with a graceful heart I accepted and forgave him. Titus 2:11-12 says that God’s grace teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age. Through His grace, I understand God’s unconditional love and acceptance. It’s not because of what we do; it’s because of what Jesus did on the cross. Even in the ministry, because of His grace, I have a good relationship with my co-workers. Before I was a leader; now I have become a spiritual father. Before I managed them; now I love them. We have now love and unity in our group and in the leadership.

Before I was a leader; now I have become a spiritual father. Before I managed them; now I love them.

Because of His grace, my marriage got restored.
Because of His grace, my relationship with my son got restored.
Because of His grace, my personal life is totally changed.
Because of His grace, the ministry becomes bigger and bigger. I know that this is not because of me, but because Jesus and His grace works through me.
Because of His grace, the church is revived.
It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace.

Thank God! Glory to Him! Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
